Welcome to the Whiting Family Web Site.
This
website is devoted to my family history going back to the 17th century. All of
my ancestors were born and bred in Suffolk, which made my initial research
relatively easy as I was able to visit churchyards and, in one instance, view
the original parish records. Although my aim was to trace my own surname back as far
as I could, it was inevitable that I would end up researching my grandparents on
both sides of my family.
The Whiting surname is quite common in Suffolk but, as my Whiting's came from Badingham in the north of the county, my search was easier than I first feared it might be. After many years of research, I have successfully traced my Whiting ancestors back to my four greats grandfather, William, who was born in 1749.
I have drawn information from various sources on my journey into the past, including the Suffolk Record Office, The National Archives in London, census returns and visits to the actual churches where my ancestors were baptised, married and buried.
It would be difficult to put my whole family tree on this site as it comprises well over 730 people at present and is continually growing. What I have done is to show my direct ancestors and only mention their siblings in passing. If you would like to find out more please contact me at the address below.
